Description

The English Longbow was once so important to the British Empire that all able-bodied men were required to own one and practice regularly. This Barnesdale English Longbow is an amazing recreation of that historic weapon, and is a great way to recapture the glories of the past. You won’t need a King ordering you to practice with this bow!

Made from a solid piece of sturdy hickory, this is a longbow made to last. It features the classic English longbow design, with a smooth rounded belly and tapered limbs. The top limb features a groove for the included stringer. The handle is wrapped in leather, for a comfortable grip and traditional look. The Barnesdale features tip overlays of genuine purpleheart.

The Barnesdale English Longbow does not have an arrow shelf, therefore it is recommended you use a bow glove for shooting off the hand.

Every archer and bowhunter admires a beautiful bow. When you add in smooth-shooting and a design of historical significance, you have a bow of true magnificence. The Loxley English Longbow is just such a bow… a beautiful piece of history brought to life.

The Barnesdale English Longbow has purpleheart nocks, and it’s finished with a clear, durable polyurethane. Features a comfortable brown leather handle wrap with leather side plate for shooting off the knuckle (right handed only).

Available from 60″-72″ in draw weights from 15-50#, with draw lengths up to 30″.

Use proper arrows for this bow:
Make sure the arrow spine matches this bow. Use an arrow with a weight between 8–12 grains per pound of draw weight. An arrow that is too light simulates a dry fire. Use an arrow appropriate for your draw length, and never draw this bow past 32 inches.

Storing this bow:
Store this bow unstrung in a temperature- and humidity-controlled location. Storing it horizontally is best. If horizontal storage isn’t possible, leave one string loop in the lower string groove of the bow and hang it up. Do not lean it against a wall with the tip on the ground for long periods.

Other tips:
If it is cold outside, warm up your bow before shooting. To do this, rub your hand on the limbs to generate heat through friction. Then perform several short draws of the string, slowly working up to a full draw. This bow is made of wood and contains a small amount of moisture to remain flexible, which can freeze in cold weather. If frozen, the bow may become brittle.

Do not leave this bow in a hot car. If this happens, allow it to return to room temperature before shooting. Begin with several short draws before working up to a full draw.

This bow has several coats of polyurethane. It does not require frequent re-oiling like other oiled bows. If the finish becomes dull over time and you wish to revitalize it, do not sand through the existing finish, as this can disrupt the bow’s tiller.

Do not carve, wood-burn, or make any other alterations to this bow.

If the bow is dropped, carefully inspect it for dents, dings, or other damage before using it. If you find any damage, consult a longbow expert before using the bow.
